Hilton Head Island is known for many things. No matter what you choose to do on the island, you’ll need to eat. And the island has PLENTY of options! With the restaurant industry on the island BOOMING, it’s time to check out some new options. 

Here are a few and just to be completely upfront, I have not eaten at any of them, so this is not a review and they are not in any order. 

Nectar Farm Kitchen

Nectar Farm is with  the SERG group and can always expect their places to be family friendly. They have gluten free and vegan options clearly marked on their website. 

Chez Georges Bistro and Bar

George Casalicchio decided to open Chez Georges to celebrate community, to provide to his neighbors a place to enjoy quality food and gather together, and to bring classic French bistro cuisine to the lowcountry while incorporating local ingredients and flavors. 

Their website says, “A French bistro with a lowcountry accent. We serve traditional bistro staples such as steak frites and moules mariniere incorporating fresh, locally sourced ingredients from the Lowcountry. Our spirits are high quality and hand-picked and our wine list is carefully curated of imports from France.”

They offer a loyalty program to earn rewards. They are open Monday-Saturday at 4:30pm and for Sunday Brunch 10:30-2:30 You can make reservations on their website and you can view the menu online.

I’ve heard several people recommend Lulu Kitchen! On the website, it says, “where exquisite cuisine is paired with an exceptional service and eclectic ambiance!” They focus on sourcing the highest quality fresh ingredients and providing guests with exceptional service for a dining experience unlike any other. They are open for

Lunch, Dinner, and Sunday Brunch Menu, but Closed on Mondays. The menu is available online as well with clearly marked gluten free and vegan options.

Brother Shuckers

Brother Shuckers Bar and Grill

Brother Shucker’s Bar & Grill is a rare gem in the Hilton Head Island culinary scene. Our offerings are inspired by locally sourced ingredients, where the highest quality products serve as the stars of each dish. Dinner served every day from 4pm-midnight and the bar is open until 2am. You can easily make reservations online and gluten free and vegan options are clearly marked. They brag about offering dollar oysters every night from 4-6pm! They have fun every Monday night with a Trivia theme! Chef Joe is originally from Ohio, but he’s lived on the Island for years. His family are food and beverage legends, owning 6 restaurants on the island.

“Chef Lynden Zuniga grew up in Honduras, Central America and worked in kitchens through high school to pay rent. His drive and passion for serving the highest quality food led him to create Tio’s.” Their menu is very descriptive and inclusive of gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, and even spicy! They also offer Sunday Brunch.

This is not a new restaurant, but they are under new ownership. They offer German and European Fare with a New Zealand flair! On their website, you can quickly see the menu and make a reservation. They offer indoor and outdoor dining as well as pickup or delivery!

The Other Sister’s Wine Bar

This cute wine bar is owned and operated by a lady who is the youngest of three sisters! All her life, she was known as “The Other Sister.” They offer daily wine tastings (pick 2 or 4), but they are closed on Sundays and Mondays. They also offer cocktails, shooters, and beer for those who aren’t into wine. They do highlight Happy Hour (at the high top tables and bar only) Tuesday- Saturday from 4:00pm-7:00pm. 

Casablanca Mediterranean Grill

Born and raised in Casablanca, owner and chef, Hicham Elmadi, specializes in French and Mediterranean Cuisines, with emphasis on using fresh products with a Farm-to-Table focus to create a pure cuisine experience. He is a culinary innovator, known for producing top-quality food. Their menu is available to view online which includes, starters, salads, wraps, food off the grill, sides, and desserts.

Bad Biscuit describes their taste as “Rebellious Southern Fare” and “”Classic Lowcountry and Southern Dishes, sometimes with a twist!” I cannot WAIT to eat here! I hear so many people brag about their awesome food! They are open daily at 8:00am and close at 2:00pm. I really enjoy when I come across someone from the island who lives and works here. The chef at Bad Biscuit says, “I’ve lived on the island for 46 years and have been the chef of our other restaurant, A Lowcountry Backyard Restaurant, for the last 10 years.” Of course, they serve breakfast all day long AND offer one vegetarian biscuit option.

Red Stripes

Red STripes Caribbean Cuisine & Lounge HHI

Red Stripes HAS to be a solid place to eat since they’ve opened their second location, the first being in Bluffton. They describe their food as “Caribbean flair.” Their outdoor seating DOES have flair! They also have live music often. They are closed on Sundays. They do offer a vegan menu and online ordering!

An Honorable Mention. Not a “true restaurant” but an awesome concept! They are a picnic company! You can pick from baskets or grazing boards (vegan option!) and they set the scene for you! You can pick at the beach, home, boat, etc. Not bad for prices starting at $25!
